Why is Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) So Attractive?

by Allison Reilly

RPO industry attractiveThe recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) industry is growing rapidly! The Everest Research Report found that the RPO market grew over 25% in 2012 alone. There's something about recruitment process outsourcing that makes it an attractive recruiting option for both large and small organizations. RPO has been proving itself as a solution that works for over 10 years. So, what makes RPO so much better than simple recruitment outsourcing, or HR outsourcing, or any other option? Here's why RPO is so attractive.

"What's not to love about it?" said Cory Kruse, chief operating officer at Novotus. "It's less money. It's faster... if you do the right things it can be very successful and impactful on the direction of your business."

From a buyer's perspective, RPO is essentially different from what was there before and is able to provide what was needed all along. What does that entail exactly? Well, here are some of the characteristics that make it different and more attractive than what was there previously:

  • Increased Efficiency - The ease in which someone can submit an application overwhelms the recruiting process, making it unmanagable fo most teams. RPO looks at the process as a whole and determines where it could be more efficient.
  • Cost Savings and Cost Management with Scalability - These comes from the improved efficiency, as well as the additional help in crafting a recruitng process that can scale up or down according to need.
  • Strategic Value - RPO and RPO providers are all about the strategic value. After all, recruiting itself is a strategy to find the best people, to build the best team, and to get the right fit for the right position.
  • Metrics - With recruitment process outsourcing, providers are able to help companies gain instight into reports and data that help the buyer drive costs down, increase efficiency, and improve their hiring decisions.
  • It's a Relationship - A provider doesn't typically come in, offer a few pointers, and that's it. With so many steps in the recruiting process, RPO providers help to maintain on-staff expertise in case things change or new challenges arise.

"When you get into a buyer situation, the sales team is going to say all the right things and do all the right things like in the beginning of a relationship," said Jen Iliff, vice president of marketing at Novotus. "It's really the quality time and getting that face time with the partner/vendor, that's what's important."

If you're now attracted to RPO, then the next step is choosing a provider and learning the components of RPO services.
