Part of improving the recruiting process is trying something new, but another way to improve the recruiting process is to get rid of old and outdated ideas that don't work. In this week's hiring and recruiting news roundup, we focus on trying new things as well as getting rid of old ideas that are simply in the way of finding great candidates and making the recruiting process more efficient.

Finding the Perfect Candidate - RPO Hub - Making a great hire takes a little luck. Finding someone with the right mix of skills, or who happens to be interested in taking another position with another company, could just be excellent timing. However, finding the perfect candidates isn't just luck and doesn't mean you have simply have to get lucky. If you take the time to look at your most successful hires, and why they were successful, then finding the perfect candidate becomes an art you can replicate so that you waste less time and money on bad hires.

What's an M(Dot)? Decoding the Language of Mobile Recruitment - The Hiring Site - This article does a great job of defining several of the main concepts in mobile recruitment. An m(dot), for example, is a website with "m." in its domain name instead of the traditional "www.". An m(dot) is specifically built for the mobile experience, and will have a different layout from the "www." counterpart, but it isn't quite the same as a responsive website. An m(dot) is also the same thing as a mobile website, except that a mobile website doesn't necessarily have the special domain name. If you're still confused, then read this article.

How Bias Can Hurt Your Hiring - Accolo - Of course, illegal bias such as racial or gender discrimination can hurt your hiring, but this article isn't about obvious types of bias. It's about having a bias in who we think will succeed in a certain position, or what's needed to succeed in a certain position, versus looking at past records and current performance. Bias may be tougher to filter during the interview process since candidates are putting their best selves forward in order to get the job. But, being aware of your biases can help you to make great hires that you may not have thought would be wise. For example, if your bias is that a great salesperson is one who is extroverted, then you may not hire someone who is introverted because they don't seem energized and outgoing.

Recruitment Outsourcing isn't Only for Cost Savings - The Seamless Workforce - Even though recruitment process outsourcing is a great way to reduce your recruiting costs, cost savings shouldnt' be the only reason why you want to outsource your recruiting process. RPO offers many additional benefits, such as improving candidate quality, creating metrics for success, building your employment brand, and stabilizing your hiring process. If you choose an RPO solution with the sole focus of cutting costs, then your solution may miss addressing other recruiting problems that may be costing the organization time and money.

Motivating Millenials: It's About Pay, a Fair Say, and Solid Management - TLNT - As a millenial myself, I can agree with the "fair say" part. Millenials want to feel like they are part of the team, and that they can contribute to the organization. They don't want to be treated like someone who can't do anything because they're perceived to be too young or haven't been in the business long enough to have any good ideas. Essentially, millenials want to be treated as people. They don't like to be treated as robots who just need to do their work and be quiet.
